Food came out hot and fresh. Pretty good seasoning. But overall wasn't the best chicken tenders and fries. Definitely better places to get these items in the metro.

It was pretty good! The service was friendly and inviting. Very clean and well maintained in the inside. I had the buffalo chicken mac, not terrible but the mac and cheese was kinda watery. Personal preference would be it a little thicker
Im not typically a fast food chicken guy. However, I tried Slim Chickens with my wife one night, and I must say I was impressed. The chicken strips have a light breading that is very tasty. The chicken strips are whole white meat chicken that is very juicy. You can get the strips sauced or just plain, and there are a lot of different sauces to choose from. Meals come with seasoned fries and garlic bread and a drink. I prefer Slim Chickens over all other fast food chicken restaurants.
Love Slim Chickens and best fried mushrooms of any restaurant! Ankeny location still seems to struggle with moving folks through quickly & balancing hot food. All the food should be hot because it's being prepared fresh. Often the fries are like warm/cold. Great choices for dippin' sauce & love the gravy as an option. Grimes location is certainly better at service but lacks customer to order coordination.......BUT ALL SAID, WE LOVE THE PRODUCT!!!
It's been open long enough the new shiny thing in Ankeny has worn off and the long lines are gone.
The service at lunch today was fast and friendly. The place is super clean.
I ordered the Slim Chicken salad and was not disappointed. It was full of very fresh ingredients and nicely prepared.
I grabbed a number and they brought my food promptly to my table.
I have heard the wings are really good and it's one of the only places around that you can get real souther sweet tea.
OK, so the name doesn't make this place sound like it's great like skinny chickens are here. But let me tell you what those chicken tenders were phat
and nice. We each got the slim chicken's chicken tender meow. It was 1199 apiece. It was a really reasonable cost for what you got. The ranch dressing was phenomenal the Korean barbecue sauce. Not so great, my daughter liked it, but it wasn't my favorite. We will be going back.
We really enjoyed the chicken tenders and would return. The original chicken sandwhich was really good too. The mac was pretty blah, but we have pretty high standards. All in all a good stop.
